Custom Letterpress for Me

November 2, 2009

Blogging is good for your health.  Well, it might not keep you from catching the flu, but it will occasionally bring you a bit of cheer…and really great gifts!

About a month ago, I found a link to this really great gift exchange, Shop, Swap, & Blog on the Structured Chaos Blog.  I signed myself right up.  Lucky for me, I was paired with Stephanie, an amazing chick and owner of a boutique Letterpress shop called Dahlia Press.   Stephanie also blogs about life, Seattle, cool stuff, and her fabulous letterpress.  You can check out her portfolio here.

Oh look, there’s the cute little package in front of my fave Sugar pillow.

Lets open it and see what special treat Stephanie sent.

It say’s “Hello Stranger.”  Isn’t that the cutest greeting?

Stephanie is a true west coast gal, she lives in Seattle and even worked for Starbucks!  Yum.  After some years in the corporate world, she decided to throw her creativity into a new art, Letterpress.  All of her wonderful pressed stationary is printed on 100% tree-free cotton paper.  It is so thick and soft, I can’t wait to write on it with my trusty Uniball Jetstream pen (my current fave).  To top it all off, she mixes all inks by hand and personally designs each motif.  Her work at Dahlia Press truly is stunning.

How’s this for fabulous?  My own personalized note cards!!!  I had toadd all those exclamation points because I’ve never had personalized stationary.  Stephanie told me I could pick out whatever I wanted from her shop, but I had no idea she was going to customize it for me.  For me!  I’m in awe.  It’s so pretty.  :)

Thanks Stephanie, I’m in love with my Letterpress stationary from Dahlia Press.  :)

My BIG Announcement

August 4, 2009

Notice anything new?  After sticking with my previous blog design for a few months, I decided it was time for a change.  I messed around in Photoshop, asked Dameian a million questions about Photoshop, and then had him do all the actual programming to make my dream a reality.  It wasn’t actually that intense (the whole dream and all), but I did have a vision and D is very resourceful.  Whatcha think?

Oh yeah, and by the way…

I’m opening up my very own Etsy shop!

I’m making the finishing touches on a few items, then I’ll have a photoshoot (in which I will be model, art director, photographer, and editor), then it will be time for the GRAND OPENING!  Hooray!  I will keep ya’ll posted with all of the details and a nice little GIVEAWAY I will be having to celebrate.

Dresses from The Goodwill

August 3, 2009

I went to The Goodwill this weekend on the hunt for some pretty dresses.  My goal was to find dresses with decent fabric that I can recycle for a few sewing projects.  The Goodwill never lets me down – I found four dresses, a silk skirt, and two organza shirts – beautiful fabric and cheaper than the fabric store.

Here’s a mini fashion spread for your enjoyment.  I won’t be wearing any of these dresses, but I thought it would be fun to pair them with different pieces from my wordorbe.lavender-chiffon-dress

This next one was my fave!

I already ripped this dress up a bit and made this cute little fabric carnation pin.

I had high hopes for my trip to the Metrolina Antiques & Collectibles Show last weekend.  Dameian and I even got there early, so we just had to leave, stop at McDonalds for a coffee and a hasbrown, and then go back for the opening.

We walk around the whole show, I have a popcorn before realizing that just outside the building is a guy making kettle corn!  I’m dissapointed.  We walk around some more.  We leave.

All we bought was popcorn and a little wheel to replace the mising one off my $45 CraigsList table.  For some reason D called the whole trip a fiasco.  I’m not sure why because overall it was pretty boring.  But atleast we got to stop for lunch at Cook-out and we had the yummiest Banana Pudding Milk Shake.  Oh my, that thing was good.

Does anybody else feel so silly when being photographed.  I always feel like an idiot.  I didn’t want to be too posey, so I told D to surprise me with the shots.  Hmm.

This is me trying to take nap after the market.  See, Belle’s hugging me, isn’t she sweet?

So this morning, after I drink my coffee, I’m off to visit some yard sales in my hood.  Wish me luck :)
