I know, you’ve already met him. I blogged about how I found said owl trivet while thrifting a few weeks ago. We all thought he was cute. Even Dameian said he was the cutest thing he’d ever seen in the whole wide world…well, he didn’t say that exactly.
Mr. Owl had a poor self image and low self esteem and I knew what would make him feel so much better. Dameian was opposed to my idea of buying him a new suit, saying in his gaga baby voice, “Mr. Owl, get it togeder. You are da cutest lidle ting just how you are!” You caught me again, he didn’t really say that. But he did say that he liked him in his original black cast iron form.
Here he is all spiffy in Krylon Jade. On my desk. Because where else would you put a trivet?
Aw, that’s me and my mommy in that photo! In Costa Rica!

Hello Ashley – love your owl trivet. He’s adorable. I love him even more with his jazzy new suit! That jade color is so cool. He looks very happy in his new home. The photo of you and your Mama is sweet. Beautiful new silk flowers pins I see there on your desk!
Blessings,
Marie
Cute – he takes on a whole new life in that cheerful color. Linda
Ack! I love it. He’d be wasted as a trivet. Much cuter where you can see him every day. :) Visiting from Rhoda’s party. :)

I had visions of owls from the 70’s dancing in my head, but seeing your little guy dressed in jade made me smile! And where else but on the desk where you work to make YOU smile?!

Hi Ashley.
Woo! It’s been a busy week, and I haven’t been able to spend the time keeping up with everyone that I would like to. It looks like your week is going splendidly. Congrats on the shop! I hope to catch up more this week.
Love the blue paint on the owl. ;)

OK now that is very clever! I loved your owl before but his after is fabulous! Great idea!
So cute!
Just to pwecious that wittle owl is now! {I couldn’t resist} It looks really sweet in that fresh shade of blue. Great job!
So cute!! That turned out perfect… LOVE it! ~Whitney
So cute! I would be using him as a jewelry holder! Thanks for sharing.
Nice job on the redo!
What a transformation. You could put him in a deep set frame and hang him. Add NESTING twigs and dried grass to the entire frame making it look like a nest. Just my ramblings.
Come for a visit.

Its So Very Cheri
How cute! I love how easily paint can transform something. Great job! :)
Ashley he is precious! Love it! :)

love the fresh color! smart girl
Girl, you had me at “spray paint!” You know those are my two favorite words in the whole decorating world! He’s such a cute little owl all painted out.
Hmmm… since I’m here… I have some old bed room furniture that’s solid wood, do you think it’s a crime to spray paint it? it’s soooo much easier than brush painting.
Haha, he’s great! I have a friend that loves 70s type owls and I wish I could buy that from you for her.
You said “Because where else would you put a trivet?”
I kind of like the idea of them on a wall. Example of two I have in my kitchen here:

Or perhaps on some shelves:

(second shelf down – although the picture isn’t that great, I could take a new one).
He’s adorable. The color you use is beautiful. Hmmmmmm, I wonder if I need to buy some more spray paint. : )
Thanks Liz! Your’s look great on the wall. I’ll be on the lookout for more. :)
Love your sweet little owl! The color is fab. :) Thanks for visiting me and for your comment! :)
Smiles,
Rachel
My mother used to collect owls. She would have liked this little guy. Great idea to paint him such an unexpected and appealing color!
He is indeed a cutie pie owl!

Love it! I am obsessed with spraypainting items I have to give them a new life. Would never have thought about it with a trivet. Very cool.
That is the cutest owl! Owls are really in this year and I have seen some pretty neat ones.
He looks great in robin’s egg blue and on your desk. Very creative. Fun blog!
