A Revamped Bench

July 19, 2009

Remember when I found this great garden bench and transformed her into the darling blue creature that now sits on my patio?  That very same day, by that very same dumpster, I found another bench.  FREE.  I couldn’t leave him all alone and sad, that would have been terrible.  I’m better than that.  I had to take him home with me.

Look how cool and calm he is now — hanging out in my dining room, just waiting for a tired soul, with a tasty cocktail of course, to take a seat.

Man, he is one heck of a looker.

I almost hate to put him in the hot seat, but I know you’re wondering, “Why was this fella left out by the dumpster?”  It’s because he used to look like this:

One of his legs was broken.  Lucky for him, Nurse Dameian, ok, Dr. Dameian built him a new leg for him to stand on.  Then, I, and Dameian’s daughter Shannon, sanded the heck out of him.  I know those numbers looked so cool.  I know it.  But they were numbers painted on top of duct tape Roman numerals.  It was bad.  So we sanded them down and painted the guy white.  I later added numbers, because I really loved them to begin with.

Look at Shannon using the power sander.  She’s just 9.  Yep, so easy a kid can do it.

I’m never put my bench in the dumpster. If I get the urge, I’ll call you first.

Your bench looks terrific! I want to visit the dumpsters in your area for sure. (: Your writing style is also fun to read — bravo! I’ll be visiting again and looking forward to it! (:

I adore the bench. The numbers add just the right umph to it. Looks great!

Thanks for entering my party!
I assume it was fairly under 15$, …but state it somewhere!

I looks really good! I love the numbers

I meant “It looks really good”

as the previous phrase would be false. I’m a total mess right now!
